The project is located in the Marine of Lecce. These places are today in a state of decay and abandon, and although there have very interesting and beautiful natural spots, the overall impression being there is that of neglected spaces.
Out project aims at rediscover and give new meaning to the Marine and will be accomplished in 3 different steps.
First we want to improve the accessibility, providing alternatives to cars with the introduction of environmentally friendly means of transports. We want to provide a fast connection with the ART tramways from Lecce to the Marine and also build a cyclepedestrian network.
Then, we want to activate some landscape regeneration processes, which aims at improve and protect the dunes ecosystems, the wetland’s functions and resilience, and the woodland quality. Therefore we plan to demolish the illegal buildings,  the ones which are breaking the continuity of natural systems or are at risk of flooding.
We want to re-establish a dialogue with nature which has been lost in time. This way we can have a natural landscape which is not just beautiful, but also works in protecting these Lecce districs froms flood events, and land erosion.

Finally we can de-seasonalize the Marine, and make them a destination to discover and enjoy Lecce’s territory (which is not just the historical city or the sea), providing spaces for events and activities, strengthening the relationship with the natural heritage.
Our project works, not only for tourists coming from far, but mainly for local people living in Lecce city, providing them an escape, even in the cold months, to enjoy and experience nature and outdoor or water related activities.
